Please read the guidelines
on how to choose a good password carefully. It is important
that you choose a good password as this is the password to
your email, dial and webspace.
Guidelines to choose
a good password
- Your password is
case sensitive. So please type carefully. "Auckland" is
not the same as "auckLanD"
- Your password should
be at least 6 characters, of which there should be at least
2 numberic and 2 alphabetic characters.
No spaces please.
- Please do not use
common words. You should avoid popular words like "password",
"internet" and "hello".
- Please do not
use your username or your name as your password. Also not
words that are easily associated with you.
- Although long passwords may
sometimes be safer, you may find it frustrating to type 15 characters
as the likelihood of typos is high. So please keep it to 8 characters
long.
- While it is often
said that you should not write down your password, we realise
that people often forget it. If you have to write it down,
please store it somewhere safe, and don't write it down
with your username.
